About Fabrik Clothing

Sarah Hardie: Founder and Chief Dreamer of Fabrik.

Sarah at a young age was taught the delicate art of needlework under the watchful eye of her paternal grandmother. The seed was sown and a love of handicrafts and fine fabrics blossomed so much so that she planned a future in the creative discipline of fashion and textiles studying at the University of Technology, Sydney.

As those merry University days drew to a close Sarah secured work experience with artpark bed linen. When she finished her degree they offered her a permanent position. She enjoyed many years there inspired by their love of colour and their ability to create emotive fabric designs.

Lee Matthews was next and it was here that Sarah made her home for over seven years before leaving on maternity leave. Two days here were never the same with some days spent quietly hand-embroidering delicate garments and others more manic pulling together look books and selling the latest range.

It was during maternity leave that the inspiration for Fabrik was born and of course the lovely Jemima is her model and muse.

Sarah’s mother who has worked with children for over thirty years says “Sarah is the only child I have ever known that looked the same way in the afternoon as she did in the morning”.

Fabrik marries that neat little girl with nanna’s handicrafts, warmth and care, a splash of colour, a dash of inspiration and wraps them all together in a unique and environmentally friendly package.
